The grail shape is an archetypal symbol of our quest, our elusive longings and our aspirations for eternity against the shifting, slipping grains of time. The Shape of the Holy Grail conveys the elusive prize of the human quest. The grail dissolves into the shape of an hourglass emptying the sands of time, disclosing the impermanence of earthly ambitions. Yet as the shadow of time is shed, there remains the light of eternity. What we seek is within all along.
